Kevin Barber, Managing Partner, was the Founder of Veteran Energy, LLC, and 95 Bravo Resources, LLC. Prior to joining Texas Energy he was Vice President of business development at Enchanted Rock Energy. Mr. Barber spent 16 years in energy trading before starting Veteran Energy, holding positions with increasing responsibility at Integrys Energy, Southwest Energy, Silvergate Bank, Panhandle Eastern Trading Company, Associated Natural Gas, Pan Energy Trading and Marketing and Duke Energy. His various leadership roles have focused on many aspects of energy management including managing trading desks, optimizing financial and physical natural gas asset portfolios and assisting organizations in their evolution from regional to national/international scopes. Responsibilities also included managing diverse groups of people and business strategies.
Governor Greg Abbott appointed him to the Texas Veterans Commission as Commissioner for a term set to expire December 15, 2021. Mr. Barber’s mission statement includes positively impacting the lives of Veterans, Active Duty Military and their families on a daily basis through the Power to Give Back™ program he established in 2011. He is the past chairman and board director for The Lone Star Veterans Association, past board director for Combined Arms Houston, VFW Foundation, Mental Health America Greater Houston, Paws for Heroes, Lone Survivor Foundation Board of Directors and United Way Veteran Services Grant Committee. He is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Kevin served three years with the United States Army’s 1st Infantry Division Military Police Corps (The Big Red One) and fulfilling his six year tour in the Army Individual Ready Reserve. He completed advanced Military Police Training and graduated from Military Police Dog Handler School at Lackland Air Force base, Grenada during Operation Island Breeze and anti-terrorist team in Puerto Rico. Barber received numerous commendations and was honorably discharged to attend college.
Mr. Barber holds a B.A. in Political Science from State University of Albany and an A.A.S. degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY-Adirondack. He resides in Memorial with his wife and two daughters.
