Our Leadership

Mike Culver, P.E.

Mike Culver has worked in the energy industry for over 30 years, including the role as the National Energy Manager of J.C. Penney and owner of Culver Energy Consulting. He now brings that experience and dedication to excellence to TEA as the Managing Partner.

  • After graduating from Texas A&M University in Electrical Engineering, Mike worked as a utility engineer for Southwestern Public Service (SPS) Company designing and managing power projects for their utility customers. After several mergers, SPS became Xcel Energy and beginning early 2000 Mike helped build their deregulated business in the Texas market. Culver spent twelve years at Xcel Energy until 2003 when he decided to make a jump to the customer side of energy usage joining the J.C. Penney corporation.

Mike spent over 6 years at J.C. Penney building a world class energy team, the first to win Energy Star’s “National Retailer of the Year Award,” and innovative energy programs like “March Utility Madness” and store management energy performance dashboards. Mr. Culver received the Chairman’s Award twice, both as a team member and for individual accomplishments in Energy Management at corporate level.

Recently, Mike has been helping businesses of varying magnitudes purchase and manage their energy as Culver Energy Consulting, providing experience and expertise in creating individualized energy plans and now will bring his strengths to join the TEA team.

TJ Ermoian

TJ Ermoian is the founder and President of Texas Energy Aggregation. His focus is on serving clients to simplify decisions regarding electricity choices, while working to promote ethical standards in the industry.

  • TJ is a pioneer of Texas deregulation and a driving force for cost savings, innovation, and ethics. TJ has empowered the largest State entities, schools, cities, universities, and municipalities to take full advantage of electricity deregulation and has saved nearly $100 million for Texas taxpayers. He has served on the board of The Energy Professionals Association (TEPA), has spoken at the Aspen Institute Energy and Policy Forum, and has contributed to many other local organizations and non-profit groups. Over the course of three legislative sessions, TJ spearheaded legislation and eventually shepherded passage of HB 1064, which was signed into law by Governor Perry in April 2011. The bill has saved millions of dollars annually for small businesses, schools, churches, athletic and performing arts facilities throughout Texas. His involvement in additional legislation has yielded significant changes in billing and energy contract language to enhance consumer protection.

An entrepreneur in Central Texas for more than 30 years, TJ’s previous professional experience includes managing the marketing team for an affiliate Retail Electricity Provider. He also was instrumental in the growth of the world’s largest solar energy company during the 1980s and worked in the proliferation of the cable television industry in the 1990s. He is also co-founder and partner in the nationally distributed television program, Texas Music Café.

TJ studied at three colleges, eventually earning a degree “utterly useless to an entrepreneur.” He has been a leader and community volunteer throughout his life, serving on the boards of several non-profits involved with scouting, the arts, fighting hunger, poverty and serving the homeless. He is a graduate of Leadership Waco and past President of the Waco Jaycees. He has been active in scouting, Texas politics, church, leadership, the outdoors, and men’s ministries. His hobbies include music, fishing, cooking, travel, glass design and songwriting. He is also a performing musician, artist and writer and has four mostly-grown children.

Leann Ermoian

Leann Ermoian, Vice President of Everything Else (yes, that’s her official title), has worked with Texas Energy Aggregation since 2012. Leann provides background support and organization.

  • Prior to Texas Energy Aggregation, Leann taught both English and fitness and wellness classes at TCU, Weatherford College, Tarleton, and the University of Southern Maine, as well as worked as an athletic academic advisor. While at A&M she worked in an exercise physiology/biochemistry/motor learning lab and assisted the athletic department in starting one of the earliest academic mentoring programs in the United States. She worked in the space shuttle division at NASA. She also has years of experience ranging from managing restaurants and fitness centers to a leadership role at a mobile home factory (which actually came in handy while assisting TJ in the renovation of Texas Energy’s former funky downtown office space!).

Leann holds a Bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) from Tarleton State University (’89), Master’s degree from Texas A&M (’92), and is also a certified personal trainer.

Leann is a proud mother of two beautiful and very active young adult daughters. Leann loves to garden, fish or do anything outdoors, and she also loves to cook. In 2017, she married to Texas Energy Aggregation President TJ Ermoian, and together they travel the state assisting government, municipal and school clients.
